Plan not to plan

Time to feel old...

Last weekend we had a very informal college reunion weekend of some of the old crew of guys that ran around together some 10-15 years ago.

I planned the date very far in advance to ensure as many people could plan to come as possible and it worked.
But when it came to planning out the details on the never amounted to what I had said we would do...and I was sort of scrambling around the week before trying to figure out what we should do.

Then it dawned on me...what we did wouldn't matter. The only thing that mattered or that anybody would remember from the weekend is the relationships.  Planning the date was important to ensure as many of those great relationships could be enhanced over the weekend but not planning everything else was vital to its success.
I can't understate the importance and value of great relationships in my life.  It seems like as each day of my life goes on it gets more important and rises higher on the list of what's necessary and needed in my world.

Great relationships are needed in our personal lives but they are also what makes a professional and a business succeed.  Don't underrate them in either place.

The next time you are ready to overplan...let it go and soak it in and relax...the relationships will take care of all of the great times...not what you are actually doing.

To any of my friends who made it or wanted to was awesome.

To everyone else...throw one together of any type of old crew you have that doesn't get the chance to all get together very often...and do it as soon as possible!
